Benny came to us after experiencing a difficult start to his life. Although now in a safe and loving home, Benny’s past experiences have left him emotionally closed off in many ways. It took Benny a full 10 days to feel comfortable enough to even pick up a toy in our presence—a testament to the careful, intuitive training required to create an environment where he could begin to enjoy life again.

His training demanded extra precautions to ensure the safety of our other dogs on location and called for a clear and thoughtful reframing of what success would look like for him. Benny responded well to learning skills such as muzzling, holding place, heeling, and redirection—essential abilities to help him lead a fulfilling life. Success for Benny is a delicate balance of realistic expectations and compassionate training.
