Remote Collar Dog Training Workshop in Vancouver, BC

I recently returned from teaching a workshop in Abbotsford, BC with Jill Sharp of Life Without a Leash Dog Training The focus of our workshop was on how to properly use an electronic remote training collar to teach basic manners and obedience to our pet dogs.

Jill did a fantastic job organizing a large group of dogs, dog owners and professional trainers alike. We had dogs of every size and variety there. From from the tiny Jack Russell Terrier and a Chihuahua, to a Boxer, German Shepherd Dogs and a Great Dane! It was a fantastic array. We encountered everything from the common problems of raising a puppy, like our overly enthusiastic Golden Retriever pups to the Pit Bull Mix who had some serious fear based aggression issues to the strong-willed Boxer who felt it necessary to bully his owner to try and get his way every time he wanted to see another dog.

Everyone made significant progress over the course of the two days as we worked on leadership exercises like teaching the dogs to heel and to come back when called. We had some really good feedback from the workshop.

Everyone went away from the event feeling a new sense of understanding this training equipment and how to use it to further communication with their dog.

I am continually awed by the learning experience I get from each dog and owner I work with and this trip was no exception. Everyone coming together to learn how to make their dog’s lives a little better is just a fantastic way to spend a weekend. And I was also humbled by my trek up Grouse Mountain! A special thanks to Annalissa Johnson our head trainer here at TMD for her assistance with everything. Hope to be back in Canada again soon!
