The annual event benefits the Humane Society
By Mary Rae Bragg, Telegraph Herald
Puzzle Heacock's first attempt at the Radar Run wasn't much of a success. The collie-shepherd mix sprinted just a few yards
along the run at Murphy Park before coming to a stop to look back at where Mary Heacock was standing. "If we'd had a cat
flying down there, she'd probably be off," Heacock mused. Puzzle and her human family were among the crowd assembled at the
park Sunday morning, taking part in doggie-type activities set up as part of the Dubuque Regional Humane Society's 12th annual

The Jackson County Humane Society has opened its doors to allow Robin's professional training students to work with resident

Trainer, Sharon Larson and her Leonberger Kyoak decided to go back to school.
Therapy organizations offer testing and registration to well mannered, social and under control dogs and their human partners.
Kys training made him the perfect candidate to help with a new therapy technique that allows dogs to help people improve
their literacy skills. As a Delta Pet Partners Therapy team, Sharon started a literacy program in their school district in Rhinelander,
Wisconsin.
On
a fairly regular schedule, they go into a school and lie quietly while an assigned student reads to Ky. The results are amazing.
Not only is it giving the student a great opportunity to lean new reading skills, but Ky gets to enjoy showing off his retrieve
skills by bringing the student a new book, and sometimes greeting the rest of the students classmates.
Ky and Sharon are a great dog and trainer team that graduated from the Trainers Course at That's My Dog! in 2003.
